MINUTES OF THE DUXBURY SELECTBOARD December 10, 2007 Members present: Jo Ann Berno, Kym Andrews, Todd Liberty, Richard Charland, Craig Isvak Others present: David Quenneville, Jeff Isham, Jill Smith, Melissa Bailey, Cara Capparelli, Gerry Myers, Robert Dostis Minutes and Budget Jo Ann called the meeting to order at 6:03. Richard Charland made a motion to approve the November minutes and Todd Liberty seconded the motion. All were in favor of it. The board decided that they would meet again on December 17 at 6 p.m. to go over the budget for town meeting. Ken Scott submitted his new budget figures. Prior budget concerns from the November meeting for Line Items 217 and 225 were adequately explained to the board. Jo Ann Bermo will get from Ken Scott Jill Macarilla’s last date to prorate the delinquent tax fee. Ken will verify the Delinquent Tax Sale date. State Farm Sale Gerry Myers of the State Buildings and Grounds Dept. and Robert Dostis, state legislator, were present to update the board on the state farm business. The passed out information explaining the Procedure for Sale and reported that they had received three bids on the state farm property. One bidder has been selected, Cavendish Partnership, Inc., and more details will follow about this after the January meeting Alternative Energy Committee Jo Ann updated the board about the alternative energy committee’s work. Jay Zisgrout has gathered some evaluations and is having an assessment done of the town’s buildings. He has a time line and will be reporting back to the selectboard. Road Report There are several concerns about people violating the ordinance prohibiting parking in the town’s right of way. Current problems are on Richardson Road and in another case a citizen is parking a trailer truck. David will call him about the situation. Ancient Highways Jo Ann attended a historical society meeting to try to get people involved on the Ancient Roads Committee but without much success. The board then tried to figure out how to get others involved since they have put out several requests for volunteers. It would be a very interesting job for anyone who enjoys town history or is interested in maps and the terrain they represent. The board does have a couple of volunteers so far. Old Business Jo Ann said that the zoning administrator will be attending the January meeting to give a summary of fees he wants increased and to give information about where the money goes. Kym reminded the board that Central Vermont Runners are going to report back in January regarding their response to a petition from Duxbury citizens who want the venue of the Leaf Peepers Half Marathon to be changed. Kym also said that she has talked to several citizens who do not want Duxbury to lose that race because of the revenue it generates for Harwood athletics. The meeting was adjourned at 6:55 p.m. The next selectboard meeting will be Monday, January 14, at 6 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Pam Dever
